Four Types of Topic Areas You Can Use to Write an EssayThere are many types of essay topics and some will work better than others depending on the audience, the writing style and the purpose of the essay. Here are four different types of topic areas that you can use to write an essay:
The Type. The type of the topic that you use to construct your essay should be one that is well defined. It should be clear to you in regards to what the essay is about and how it will benefit those reading it. A written subject line should be included for this purpose.
The Title. A good title will help your readers to easily recognize the main idea and the benefits of the topic you are writing about. A catchy title can also attract the attention of readers and make them read more. Avoid heavy-handed titles that people might not enjoy or search for.
The Body. The actual content of the essay will be very important. You want to consider your overall theme and audience when writing the body of the essay, but there are a few things to keep in mind as well.
First, remember that you have to keep the same message throughout the body of the essay. Keep the same tone throughout the piece. Try to put in the same ideas that you would have as if the reader were sitting across from you in class. Focus on the point and not on the form.
Second, keep your sentences short and simple. Any lengthy sentence or paragraph is another sign that you are trying to write something that has been done before. When you write a long essay, your readers will be distracted from the main points of the piece and you may lose their interest.
Third, always end each paragraph with a preposition. Prepositions in English are a sign of a well written essay because they give your readers some information about the topic you are discussing. If you do not use this technique, your readers may find it difficult to understand what you are talking about.
Finally, it is best to keep the length of your essays to no longer than three pages. Three pages is a length that is appropriate for any type of piece that you may need to write. Once you get to the point where you are no longer interested in writing anymore, you are wasting everyone's time. Because you are wasting everyone's time, why continue to write?
